About Adania

Scientist.
Educator. Community Builder.

Dr. Flemming is a scientist, educator, facilitator, and community-centered program leader whose work sits at the intersection of biodiversity science, STEM learning, and public engagement.

Her work spans research, curriculum development, mentorship, facilitation, and community leadership across universities, museums, nonprofit organizations, and national STEM networks.

Grounded in the belief that meaningful learning and professional growth occur when people can bring their whole selves into the spaces they inhabit, Dr. Flemming designs environments that support curiosity, reflection, wellness, care, and sustainable engagement. Across her work, she is particularly interested in creating pathways that help people navigate STEM while remaining connected to their values, identities, and sense of purpose.

Her background includes ichthyology, biodiversity research, museum collections, science education, facilitation, and organizational leadership. Together, these experiences inform an approach that integrates scientific inquiry with education, mentorship, and community-building to create meaningful pathways into STEM.

Vision

Dr. Flemming envisions a world where people can engage with science, learning, and community without leaving parts of themselves behind—a world where curiosity, care, and connection are valued alongside achievement, and where people are supported not only in what they do, but in who they are becoming.

She believes research, education, and community are strongest when they are rooted in belonging, mutual support, and meaningful relationships. Science flourishes when diverse perspectives are welcomed, knowledge is shared generously, and people have the support they need to participate fully and sustainably.

Through research, education, mentorship, facilitation, and community leadership, Dr. Flemming works to create pathways that help people access knowledge, build confidence, contribute their gifts, and flourish. She believes communities are strongest when they are built intentionally—with care, trust, and a commitment to our shared humanity.
